Planning a Trip and Which Perfumes to Take

Packing for a trip for me can be very stressful. For weeks I pack then unpack my travel wardrobe. Not only do I have to determine what I will be wearing but to complicate things which fragrances should I take. I give a lot of thought of where I am going, what I will be doing and what the weather will be like.

In preparation, a few weeks prior to my departure I get out and open up my suitcase. Setting it aside on the bed in my spare bedroom I can then select the various outfits that I’ll be taking, keeping in mind of the weather and the excursion plans I have. Once that is done it’s on to selecting the perfect perfume for my trip. I try to only take between two to three fragrances with me. First this cuts down on the amount of luggage I take and makes the decision making easier.

This years’ trip was to an exclusive cabin resort area with occasional day trips to historical sites then finishing the evening with romantic dinners.

For hanging around the cabin resort area I packed Angel by Thierry Mugler. Angel is a refreshing oriental woody fragrance that would be perfect for any outdoor setting, whether it be sitting on the deck or by the shuffleboard area. With its blend of vanilla sandalwood and patchouli and accompanied by fruity notes of fresh citrus melons, peaches and plums, this fragrance is great for casual daytime wear.

For our day excursions of visiting the historical landmarks a light bodied fresh scent would be the perfect fragrance. Dolce by Dolce & Gabbana came immediately to my mind as it is a perfect summertime fragrance with its touches of water lily and narcissus which reminds me of a walk through the garden. Dolce also offers airy floral notes that linger all day long. While notes of papaya flowers are sweet on the nose, the richer neroli and amaryllis provide substance and depth.

The hardest part was selecting the fragrance for those romantic evening dinners. Romance by Ralph Lauren was my first thought with its refined flowery feminine scent. The blend of fresh rose, ginger, marigold, violet, oakmoss and musk makes it the perfect evening wear fragrance.  L’Air Du Temps by Nina Ricci is also another favorite of mine for evening wear. A refined floral fragrance, this feminine scent possesses a blend of gardenia, jasmine, iris and sandalwood. Since I couldn’t decide which one to take, I took both of them.

Needless to say, this year’s suitcase was a bit more crowded since I couldn’t make up my mind on which perfume to take. I was extremely happy with my choices and on several occasions had compliments on the fragrance that I was wearing. Going through the preparations when packing for a trip, takes the disappointment out of selecting the wrong perfume to pack.
